Dual study program: Three months at the university, three months at the bank

Henrik Clausen joined the program in October 2020. Like all dual students, he spent the first three months at the bank to get to know his colleagues and the bank better. In January of last year, he began his training at the HSBA. Since then, he has spent every three months alternating between theoretical university training and the very practical training weeks at various stations in the bank.

Henrik Clausen: "The alternation of theory and practice is very good. Sure, it's a bit more time-consuming than a purely full-time course of study. But it's definitely doable." During the banking weeks, Henrik Clausen has a regular 39-hour week. According to him, the exam periods at the university are always a bit more turbulent.

Variety, good further education opportunities and a decent salary

Ronja Ehlers, HR Strategy Expert at Hamburg Commercial Bank: "We are looking for young talents who are interested in business contexts and banking topics. And who enjoy exploring the bank, who are curious and also have the courage to just jump in at the deep end."

There is certainly no shortage of challenging tasks at the bank: "From day one, our dual students are involved in responsible and exciting projects."

That's exactly what Henrik Clausen values so much about the dual task. In addition, there are excellent training opportunities, on-site support, where the young talents are taken by the hand by experienced professionals, and a good salary. The dual students are paid according to the current bank tariff - currently 1,036 euros gross per month in the first year. They also get 30 days' vacation a year.

In addition, the bank pays a high proportion of the tuition fees and gives the dual students time off to write their bachelor's thesis. At the end of their studies, the chances of being taken on are very good. With a "good" or "very good" overall degree, all dual students receive a permanent employment contract.
