Hamburg Commercial Bank participates in the refinancing of Ark Data Centre near London

Hamburg, December 19, 2019 - Hamburg Commercial Bank (HCOB) is one of eleven banks to participate in the 450 million pound refinancing for Ark Data Centre in the UK and belongs to the group of four lenders financing the largest portions of the transaction.

Ark, founded in 2005, owns and operates three data centres near London. Around half of the capacities are supplied to the British government under long-term framework agreements. New data center buildings are already under construction. To finance these investments and increase capacity on the existing campus, Ark needed more capital.

"This transaction fits in perfectly with our strategy to drive the expansion of the digital infrastructure," said Inka Klinger, Global Head of Infrastructure at Hamburg Commercial Bank. "Data centers are the backbone of the communications system of a globalized world with exponential data traffic growth." One success criterion for this complex transaction was the very rapid implementation. "This is exactly where we have shown our strengths, because we have a long track record in this asset and can deliver quickly," said Inka Klinger. HCOB is one of the first financiers of the digital infrastructure. Inka Klinger: "Our expertise in structuring and placement is in demand in the market and we are a sought-after contact in Europe."
