HSH Nordbank opens shipping office in Naples

Hamburg/Kiel/Naples, June 30, 2008 - HSH Nordbank, the world's leading ship financier, will open a new office in Italy for shipping clients on July 1. Mario Pascarella will head up the new office on Piazzeta Matilde in Naples' banking district as General Manager. Pascarella, 44, comes to Naples from Norship Italia, an HSH Nordbank subsidiary which has already been active on the Italian market for some years now. Prior to switching over to the shipping finance business, Pascarella spent 9 years as a Merger & Acquisitions Specialist at PricewaterhouseCooper. In outstanding loans alone, he and his team have granted a total of around half a billion dollars to about a dozen clients.

HSH Nordbank's product range is constantly expanding, a trend currently exemplified by its new leasing and mezzanine solutions. Innovative forms of financing, advisory services and structuring services have been offered from a single source for several years already.

"The same success factors that have allowed HSH Nordbank to grow at other key locations for the global shipping market will allow HSH Nordbank to grow in Italy, as well. For decades we have proven that we attach great importance to our long-term personal relationship to clients. That is a key element of our advisory services – and something our clients greatly appreciate," says Pascarella. Other factors behind the bank's success story are the experience and expertise that HSH Nordbank shipping experts have gained over the decades. "We are flexible, interested in quick yet solid decisions and can offer a broad range of innovative financial products," Pascarella goes on to say.

From Hong Kong to Warsaw, HSH Nordbank is represented at a total of 30 locations around the globe and maintains headquarters in Hamburg and Kiel. The Group has assets totalling EUR 204 billion (USD 320 billion) and around EUR 10 billion (nearly USD 16 billion) in new business is arranged in the shipping division every year (business volume of EUR 30 billion [USD 47 billion]). The bank's portfolio includes more than 2500 ships.
