HCOB meets high environmental standards and expects the same from all its businesspartners. The bank, or rather its predecessor institutions, was one of the pioneers in the financing of renewable energies in Germany. To this day, the bank remains very active in this field.
Having already reduced its own carbon dioxide emissions by around 5,000 tons in the period from 2008 to 2018, the bank plans to reduce them by a further 3,500 tons in the period from 2019 to 2021. HCOB has been drawing its electricity from renewable energy sources since 2018. When travelling on business , the bank 's employees are encouraged to give preference to rail travel and to avoid flights wherever possible. All vehicles in the fleet comply with the latest Euro standards. According to the car policy, the engine capacity is limited to two liters. In addition, the use of electric mobility in the fleet of vehicles has begun. The Bank's lighting systems are particularly economical; paper consumption has been cut by almost half between 2015 and 2019.
