Exhibition "Nordschau I – a closer look at HSH Nordbank's art collection"

Hamburg/Kiel, February 27, 2009 - HSH Nordbank has been committed to Northern German art since 2000. With its “Nordschau I” exhibition it is now for the first time providing a closer look with a sample of its collection of contemporary art.

On show are works by artists with a connection to Hamburg or Schleswig-Holstein, such as Oliver Ross, Fernando de Brito, Joachim Grommek, Nina Kluth, Min Wang, Felix Müller, Giovanni Castell, Hans-Christian Koglin, who are also represented in other major public or private art collections.

A variety of more than 50 exhibits, including paintings, photography, collages, objects and slide montages on light boxes will be on display in HSH Nordbank’s exhibition area. As they take a look around, visitors to the exhibition will see works of art that invite them to dream, to smile or to reflect. Picturesque landscapes, on second glance, will reveal a political dimension; the waters of the port really do seem to set heads swaying; and what appears to be strips of adhesive tape turns out to be something altogether different, and a collection of blossoms brings elves and gnomes to life.

The exhibition “Nordschau I – a closer look at HSH Nordbank’s art collection” will be open to the public at the Bank's Hamburg offices at Gerhart-Hauptmann-Platz from March 2 through June 30, 2009.

The exhibition marks the beginning of a series of exhibitions that put on show artworks with a connection to HSH Nordbank’s home region of Northern Germany.
