Taking part for the 9th time! HSH Nordbank is premium partner with the longest association with Kieler Woche

Hamburg/Kiel, May 8, 2012 - In 2012 HSH Nordbank will be supporting Kieler Woche for the 9th time in succession. Among all premium partners, this makes the Bank the sponsor with the longest association with the world’s largest sailing event.

This year too, HSH Nordbank is committed to contributing to the success of Kieler Woche onshore and on the water. In addition to this, the Bank will be continuing the ‘Gut für Kids’ (‘Good for Kids’) charity campaign, which it launched together with Kieler Woche last year.

For the price of one euro, visitors to Kieler Woche will again have the opportunity to purchase one of the solidarity wristbands at one of the 200 sales stands – or from one of the hostess teams. All the proceeds go to the “Kids in die Clubs” [‘Kids into Sports Clubs’] project. The aim of this campaign is to give children from low-income families in Kiel a chance to participate in club sports. In the first year alone this joint initiative by HSH Nordbank and Kieler Woche resulted in a donation of € 25,000. Once again, the “Gut für Kids” initiative is being supported by a number of prominent yachtsmen and women as well as representatives from Kiel. The celebrities include the climate researcher Mojib Latif and the world sailing champion in the Tornado class, Roland Gäbler.

This year too, the proven HSH Nordbank Race Repair Service will be provided again. This offshore repair service offers perfect immediate assistance to both professional and amateur sailors. Damage is repaired directly on board. Last year alone this service was used by yachtsmen and women more than 100 times. In 2012 too, the professional boat-builders and sail-makers are prepared to deal with almost any eventuality. Their objective is to make it possible for as many yachtsmen and women as possible to keep on sailing and take part in the regatta.

“Precisely in the Olympic year of 2012 we would like to contribute to the success of the world’s largest sailing event by means of our partnership. Together with the organisers of Kieler Woche, we want to follow up on last year’s successful donation campaign with the ‘Gut für Kids’ initiative,” said Gesine Dähn, Spokeswoman of HSH Nordbank, at the press conference in Hamburg.
